July 28th Cardiff, Wales Cooper's Field What a fantastic concert, meat is a real entertainer and singer, this was our first meatloaf concert and we all fully enjoyed it, the sun shone and u could not wish for a better group to see thanks for a great night to meat and his band looking forward to his next one WE SHALL BE THERE from milan and janetxxxxxxxxxx

July 27th Dublin, IRE Marlay Park This was my third Meat Loaf concert over the years and it was by far the best. The setting was ideal in the foothills of the Dublin mountains. The sun shone over Dublin for the first time in weeks. There was a great party atmosphere from early on. The support act were an Irish band - Picture House who got everybody in the mood to rock. Kasim and Patty did their songs brilliantly and then the place just started rockin. It was superb - a non stop party. I have never sang so loud or laughed so much at a gig. Between forgetting what verse he was on, to insulting the audience, to wearing stupid hats and demanding bras, it was a night of pure entertainment. But if you want to hear the crystal clear strength of Meats voice - well them a gig is the wrong place to be. This was real. Excellent stuff - money well spent. When ya commin' back Meat??? P.S. Does anybody out there know if he wore the 'Hat' in Liverpool? Clipper

July 28th Cardiff, Wales Cooper's Field This was our first Meat Loaf concert experience and it was fantastic. The 'warm up' by Patti and Kasim was great - we loved Kasim's purple trousers! Meatloaf was amazing and hilariously funny. The crowd went mad when they found out it was Meat's birthday, we all sang him happy birday and he was presented with a cake which he then dunked his head into! From impressions of bumble bees, to the bra request and the astounding musical talents Meat and gang - we can't wait until the next tour! Lesley & Ruth H.

July 24th London, UK Hyde Park What can I say......The show was awsome! I had never been to a Meat concert before but have loved his music for so long. He was brilliant!!! Patti & Kasmin started of the concert and were both great. Meat came on and had us on our feet rockin' for the next 2 hours. The energy was amazing. Thanks Meat! Hope I get the chance to see Meat again in the near future. Matt B.

July 29th Liverpool, UK King's Dock Meat you will have probably heard this 1000’s of times before but I’m going to say it any way. Thank you for A fantastic evening. My self and a very good friend of mine, Helen, traveled to Liverpool, England to see you sing all your superb songs in full, I would just like to say thank you for singing the songs which we both can relate to and mean such a lot to us both, As you said on Story Tellers You sung the songs just for us, THANK YOU Richard W.

July 29th Liverpool, UK King's Dock The concert was held in the summer pops big top. It only holds 4500 so its realy good veiws from every where. Elton john played there last week. It was a hot and sweaty night. Meat played the crowd well at the start and got them worked up. What seemed off the cuff show is a well planned stage act. Reading other reviews he did the same stuff. Had a great night. he started singing I'd Lie for you then stopped after the first verse, shame. 2 outa 3 was the best i.ve seen him do it. even better than the 83 tour when he sang without a mike or band. In the end he was made to leave the stage as there is a 11.30 shut off for the tent and the happy police did not like us enjoying our selves. Hopefully he'll be back soon to the UK. Stuart M.

July 24th London, UK Hyde Park What a fantastic evening!!! Have seen Meat many times but this was the first time outdoors, definately well worth the experience. Even had my mum dancing and singing along !! I'll do anything and Paradise were truely magnificent. Meat had everyone out of their seats right from the start and i'm sure we could have carried on all night! Your are the BEST there is Meat, thank you for a wonderful evening ad keep on rocking! Jules

July 28th Cardiff, Wales Cardiff Castle This is the 5th time I've seen Meat - had fabulous tickets and yet again was a brilliant show he put on, he is such a popular performer which was so obviously proved by the amazing standing ovation and 'meat' chants even before he sang a note - MEAT PLEASE COME BACK I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MY 6TH ENCOUNTER !! Pippa

July 29th Liverpool, UK King's Dock MEAT'S STILL GOT IT!!! HE CAN PLAY THE CROWED ALMOST AS GOOD AS HIS GUITAR. HE'S THE BEST LIVE PERFORMER OUT THERE AND BRINGS AN EDGE OF COMEDY TO HIS PASSIONATE SHOW. BUT IT'S NOT JUST MEAT'S POWERFUL VOICE AND THEATRICAL ANTICS THAT ARE ON THE TOUNGES OF THE 4,500 FANS AS THEY LEAVE THE CONCERT, MEATS DRUMMER JOHN MICELI, WOWED THE AUDIENCE WITH NO LESS THAN THREE DRUM SOLO'S. THE VOCAL'S OF PATTI RUSSO AND DAUGHTER PEARL ARE ALSO A STRONG TOPIC OF CONVERSATION IN A SMALL BAR A FEW HUNDRED METERES AWAY FROM THE KINGS DOCK AREANA, WERE IT SEEMS HALF OF THE FANS HAVE CRAMMED INTO JUST TO REMINISCE ON A SHOW THAT HAD JUST FINISHED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE. AN AWSOME NIGHT, THE CITY OF LIVERPOOL THANKS YOU MEAT, PLEASE COME BACK SOON!! Mossy

July 25th Leeds Millenium Square I was at Meat's concert in Leeds last Thursday .. I was expecting to come rushing in to tell you all about it .. but as you know I was without computer from Wednesday .. and since getting it back Saturday night have been trying to get to grips with numerous bugs and problems in it .. The event was not without it's traumas .. suffice to say first, let them never suggest to me I should forgo having a car and instead rely on public transport. My car broke down and could not be repaired in time for the journey, and the trains were on selective strike .. I was offered one to Leeds getting in just after 7pm .. and told the last one back to Sheffield would leave Leeds at 7.25pm!!! .. the only means of getting there was by taxi .. which cost a mere $105 .. but it was for Meat .. so I went. Then the "Leeds City Council is very aware and committed to ensuring the less able can enjoy all venues .. there will be plenty of seating if you can't stand for the concert" .. turned out to be a platform which accommodated 5 wheelchairs .. this for a venmue with a capacity for I believe 5 or 6 thousand .. so I was parked on a chair with others in the same plight right at the back and immediately behind people who were standing .. I could see the lights at the top of the stage and not much more. I don't think I'd have stayed for any other performer .. but this was Meat so I did. And about a third of the way through the main event a steward came and said he'd arranged to squeeze an extra seat on the platform for me .. which I accepted provided they put a second one on for the woman on crutches next to me. The platform was even further back, and behind a lighting scaffold .. which speaks volumes to the lip service paid to enabling people over here .. but finally we could at least see the stage! I truly believe Meat would have been appalled to know there were 4 or 5 children in wheelchairs sitting behind the standing audience .. of course he could no more see them than they see him :(( It seems he did the stalking round stage beating the drums bit .. but I could neither see nor hear. The first songs were almost impossible to make out .. then they got the sound right during Tear Me Down and I could hear better, although I missed quite a bit of it as this was when they finally got some seating with a view sorted out. I was able finally to see the stage for Dead Ringer and All Revved Up which followed.Did Meat look good? Well I could see he was more than ambulatory!! .. full of energy and charging round the stage as is his custom :) But too far to see his face. Then it was Anything For Love .. there are miseryguts on other lists who love to say his voice is not what it was .. they're either absent from concerts, deaf .. or don't want to hear! He sounded WONDERFUL .. he may not have quite the range in the upper octaves as when he was 30 and doesn't stay in the high octaves as much .. but now imo his voice has a depth and richness which is truly wonderful .. AND he can still hit the higher notes bang on! One of the great things is he doesn't come on and just parrot the song as it was first recorded .. every time you hear him sing live there are variations .. great rendition .. with Meat spending several minutes pondering whether or not he's sooner or later be screwing around .. before assuring Patti .. he won't do that Then we had a great rendition of Paradise .. ending with the now classic Fuck You!!!!!!!! .. and then it was time to bring out the stools and introduce the rest of the band. This was his chance to do the "If you touch my daughter .." set .. so he stomped round the stage yelling at the would-be wooer of Pearl .. I love this as you can be sure about 10 blokes in the audience will start nervously .. all convinced he is raving at them :)) .. "my rage will be awesome to behold .. my fists will be of iron .. my ass will be steel .. I shall annihilate you!!!!" ... Then still sitting Meat and Patti sang Hot Summer Nights .. following some banter around the wolf with the red roses .. and Leeds City Centre was treated to the massed voices of his audience obediently singing their heads off in the chorus .. I'm not quite sure when it was he spent about 5 minutes controlling the lights and the cheers of the audience by raising his arm dramatically and then lowering it fast .. but he he's the man .. and when he turned to the lighting and raisedd his arm on they came .. and when he lowered it they died .. and in between each signal for the lighting he'd lift his other arm and everyone would yell .. and as quickly stop as his hand came down .. he enjoyed himself hugely .. He told us "I was in London last night .. and had a telephone call this morning saying 'you mustn't swear so much' .. apparently I mustn't use the eff-yew -ee-kay word!! .. So I'm not gonna fuckin' swear tonight .. no fuckin' way man .. noo .. I'm not gonna fuckin' swear at all!! .. they tell me I mustn't fuckin' swear .. and I won't fuckin' do it!!!!" .. this was greeted with cheers and tumultuous applause :)) I have to say that I saw nothing being thrown on stage .. and my eyes never left him .. lol .. but at one point he wandered to the back like he does and returned waving the apparently obligatory bra .. asking whose it was .. and saying .. "Baby you've got one big pair of hooters!! .. but doesn't it feel great?? .. feel them swing free .. let them go in the breeze?" .. he then said it wasn't big enough for him .. " .. anybody want it? .. well YOU didn't !!! .. " .. these are clearly part of the set now .. the mike was adorned with the trophies which adorned it in London .. he then retrieved another bra from by the drums .. saying .. "I can see why someone threw this .. it's all stained!!" And then into I'd Lie For You .. which was interrupted by the banter leading up to Mony Mony .. so Meat leans down into the audience and goes .. "What's that dear? You want me to sing what?" "Now that's a song I know .. it was recorded when I was about 11 .. but not by me .." "Did you see the name on the ticket? Do you have your ticket stub?" .. turning to the audience .. "Do you have ticket stubs here?" "Well if you look on it you'll see the name MEAT LOAF .. and that's ME .. the song you want was recorded by another artist .. what? .. it's your birthday next week? And what's your name dear? SARAH? .. that's a very English name .. " .. turns to audience again .. "It's MY birthday tomorrow!!" .. (old storyteller .. lol) so of course half the audience sing Happy Birthday .. then Meat says "Well let's see .. someone may know it .. " wanders round and then says .. John knows it .. he's much older than me .. right then for Sarah whose birthday's next week and who thought she was coming to see a different artist .. " .. and they go into Mony Mony .. with Meat waving his arms and joining in the chorus .. Then a superb rendition of BOOH .. people singing along but not so loud as to drown out the master .. and then after a theatrical exit .. a return for Johnny Be Good by way of an encore before he left the stage arms hig in victory and waving goodbye ... Earlier he also did that special thing which always so endears him to us .. coming to the front of the stage and saying .. "Thank you England .. thanks for everything .. you've always been there for me .. " a gracious man who never forgets he has never lost popularity here, and lived here while he relaunched his career in the 80s .. this was greeted by a roar which would have lifted the roof had there been one. I've tried to record what he said as closely as I can remember .. we all know the set list by now .. we all know he sings like an angel .. and it's what he says which makes a live performance so very very special imo .. Meat workig his audience is wondrous to behold :)) So .. started badly for me .. but still a wonderful evening and I was transported by the boss's magic :)) And in Allentown .. if anyone is foolish enough to come and stand in front of me ............ boy they won't live to regret it .. they won't live!! .. to quote the boss .. No fuckin' way!!!!!!!!!!!! Caryl B. Oops .. forgot the two new additions .. the first was early and hard to hear .. but Tear Me Down was GREAT!! .. VERY ML .. the rocker sex god ... with an ass of steel .. :))) Caryl

July 28th Cardiff, Wales Cardiff Castle Well I have been a Meat Loaf fan for years but never been to see him live. The last time he was in Cardiff was when he played the international arena. I knew people who went there to see him and they told me they were very disappointed. In spite of their comments I had to go and see for myself and so I did ... at the back of the castle in Cardiff - Coopersfield. Me and another avid Meat fan went and I tell you - he was awsome. We were sat around the middle of the seated area and we had a great time. The support act of The Real People I quite enjoyed.... to be honest Meat's bassist who done a couple songs after them wasn't my cup of tea but best of luck to him anyway. Then Ms Russo herself was brilliant as she done a couple of songs too. It was then time for Meat and by this time the crowd (including myself) were READY...... Up on the two screens each side of the stage appeared Meat (at this point I have to say the screens complimented the show terrifically and added that extra touch) - the crowd went mad. I was a bit disappointed that Life Is A Lemon was chosen to start the show as it is my least favourite song and also the next couple I hadn't really heard of. So it wasn't until Dead Ringer.... that I really started to Rock! Patti sang on a number of songs even Pearl (Meat's daughter) sang on 2 Out Of Three which was great. The show was brilliant. It just happened to be Meat's birthday as well where he had a cake brought on stage ... he soon had his face in that!!!!!! Meat played to the crowd brilliantly with a few f's and s's thrown in to measure! My highlights were Id lie for You..... and of course Bat Out Of Hell IN THE DARK ASWELL!!! He did a few covers like Mony Mony and Johnny B gOODE to finish off and all in all I was very satisfied and would definitely see him again. Don't know why people thought he wasn't that good when he played the arena but no doubt he is a star in the park especially in Cardiff. Keep on Rockin' Meat - i definitely will. Mr Pazz

July 29th Liverpool, UK King's Dock This was the best Meat concert I've been to so far. He was a bit late (and frustrating) coming on at 9pm, after Kasim and Patti had done their bit of self-promotion. However, once the show got started, the atmosphere was fantastic, and all 4,500 people were singing along. His swearing was as funny as ever, as were his attempts to get more women to take their bras off! In the end, he finished at 11.35pm, over 2 1/2 hours later. There aren't many people who play for longer than 90 mins these days, and thats people 20 years younger too! By the last 4 or 5 songs, there wasn't a single person sitting down. AWESOME!!! Set list: Kasim - 3 songs Patti - 3 songs Life is a Lemon Crazy for a Mercury Tear Me Down Lawyers Guns and Money Dead Ringer for Love All Revved Up with no place to go Anything for Love Paradise By The Dashboard Light Two Out of Three Aint Bad Mony Mony Pearl - Guilty Took The Words... Bat Out Of Hell Johnny B Goode. Come back to Liverpool soon, Meat. Gareth C.

July 24th London, UK Hyde Park lIKE A LOT OF REVIEWS I HAVE READ MEAT LOAF WAS JUST AWESOME.THIS WAS THE 5TH TIME I HAD SEEN HIM LIVE AND THE MAN PUTS ON ONE HELL OF A SHOW,PATTI WAS FABULOUS AS SHE ALWAYS IS AND WHAT A VOICE,IT WAS A NICE TOUCH INVITING AMANDA ON STAGE TO SING TWO OUTTA THREE AIN'T BAD. TWO DOWNSIDES FOR ME WAS THE SWEARING,I AM NOT A PRUDE AND THE ODD SWEAR WORD IS FINE BUT MEAT WAS A BIT OVER THE TOP, ANOTHER THING I HAVE SEEN HIM IN AN ARENA BEFORE AND DOING A OUTSIDE GIG DIDN'T DO HIS VOICE JUSTICE AND WHERE WAS THE BAT THAT COMES FROM THE STAGE DURING BAT OUT OF HELL. PLEASE COME BACK SOON AND PREFABLY AT AN INSIDE VENUE. Michael W.

July 29th Liverpool, UK Ransomes Dock The venue was great a circus tent! Only holds about 4,500so was nice and cosy. After the support band (the real people or something like that) We got Kasim singing 3 songs and plugging his new album. Tnen is was Pattis turn and she sang tie your mother down and two of her own. Then Meaty opened with Life is a lemon then two song I didn't know I do hope there from testify and not that i'm going a bit senile. He spent most of the night trying to get bras for his mike stand he harrased some poor woman to death but she wouldn't give it up! He also sand dead ringer, paradise, all revved up, johnny be good, mony mony, bat out of hell, two out three,a bit of I'd lie for you Pearl also did a number. From start of the support band to meats finish the whole concert was 3 and a half hours! I had a blast but totally cooked it was boiling in there. SARAH OR RICHARD

July 29th Liverpool, UK Ransomes Dock I also when to Liverpool last night. It was brilliant. I loved the original song life is a lemon with the drum and the glitter. Meat seemed really tense at first as though he could walk off stage at any moment but soon settled down the second song I didn't recognise so I'm either a bad fan or it was a new one but the next one was lawyers guns and money. He did not a bad version of I'd do anything for love but it took him four attempts to get started and that was only after he told the crowd to "shut the f*** up". He got the audience to do the bridge of 2 outta three and he said that it was "the f***ing best bridge that he'd ever heard" I loved it when he launched into hot summer night with the wolf bit cos when he reachd the "and would he starve for me bit" he kept listing all the foods he'd miss and how much he loved them. By the time Patti finally got him to answer on the "but does he love me" bit she looked as though she was ready to throttle him. I was disappointed that he never finished singing I'd lie for you (he managed one line) but I guess it made quite a good link to mony mony and pearls song about a dead rabbit? It was a brilliant evening and we were really close the closest I've ever been to meat. I'll stop rambling now suffice to say it was brilliant. Mainnoac

July 29th Liverpool, UK Ransomes Dock IT WAS WONDERFUL, WORDS FAIL ME, HE GETS BETTER AS TIME GO ON. AND A FANTASTIC SUPPRISE FROM MY HUSBAND AS I DID NOT KNOW UNTILL THE BUS PULLED UP. THANK YOU IAN XXXXXXXXXXXX DENISE

July 28th Cardiff, UK Cardiff Castle We attended the Hyde Park Concert on 24th July - review already sent - and then Cardiff Castle on 28th July. Fantastic - absolutely fantastic. Words cannot describe how good the concert was. After the problems at Hyde Park, it was fantastic to go to another concert if only to see how let down Meat was. We were still rocking in the early hours, it just couldn't get any better - and to see Meat perform on his birthday (and hear the audience break into Happy Birthday), to see Meat perform for the 2nd time in one year - it just can't get any better. I've seen Meat perform before, but my friend had never seen him live - her lifelong dream was realised twice!! We are more in love with Meat than we ever were. Can't wait for Testify and hopefully the forthcoming tour. Natacha V

July 27th Doublin, IRE Marlay Park WHAT A BRILLIANT CONCERT MEATLOAF AND FRIENDS PUT ON IN DUBLIN. KASIM WAS BRILLIANT AS ALWAYS, HE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED FOR LONGER. JUST ONE THING LEFT TO SAY TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE LEAVING MESSAGES SAYING WHAT BIG FANS THEY ARE OF MEAT LOAF, WELL IF YOU ARE ALL SUCH BIG FANS WHY ARE YOU WISHING HIM A HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN JULY?!?!?! THE GUY KNOWS HOW TO GET THE CROWD GOING OF COURSE SAYING IT WAS HIS BIRTHDAY BUT EVERYONE IS BELIEVING HIM. GIVE HIM HIS BIRTHDAY GREETINGS IN SEPTEMBER! WELL DONE MEAT!!! GOOD CALL!! CHRIS

July 28th Cardiff, Wales Cardiff Castle Very good. My first gig and Meat Loaf was funny and amazing in the the flesh. Avery good gig and i would go to time and time again. Thanxs Meat Loaf for the best gig. You Rule. Nick C.

July 29th Liverpool, UK Ransomes Dock I,ve followed the fortunes of my favourite artist (MEAT in case you need to ask) since the release of Bat Out of Hell, when I was 12 years old. I,ve seen him on several concert tours, and hope to see him on several more, and like a fine wine the man (and the band) matures with age. I won't re-iterate the play lists that have been mentioned earlier, as they are broadly the same, but the presence of the man dominates the stage. He is looking fitter than I've ever seen him, and his voice clinging to every note like a mother to it's child, is as good as ever. The beautiful Patti and Pearl, providing superb backing, and Pearl proving it's in the genes, singing the blues with a voice like warm honey. I love this man, and I love his music, it touches the heart and the soul - it speaks a language I understand. It has been a motivation and a comfort to me in the past - and I still welcome it into my life like an old friend. God bless you Meat Andy S.

July 27th Doublin, IRE Marley Park he joked he teased and tormented us pretending he wasnt going to sing if he didnt get total quiet and then went on to delight us for the rest of the night we all sang our hearts out to him as well needless to say a number of us women ended up braless for his mike stand. come back soon and as for patti and kas they were fantastic especially patti when she sang marilyn. i cant wait for next year ! kezzina g.

July 24th London, UK Hyde Park Its gotta be said that July 24th 2002 will definitely be a date to remember. What a fantastic performance, by a great performer, and singer. Everyone was singing, laughing and having a great time, Everyone knew all the words to all the songs. The atmosphere was electrifing and the night went of with a bang. Keep it going, we all love you Rich M.

July 25th Leeds Millenium Square What can I say that hasn't been said by previous reviewers, not a lot. The atmosphere was electric and the performance was dynamite, a great night with one hell of a performer. From Life is a Lemon to Bat out of Hell the audience were mesmerised by the power and the voice that is .... Meat Loaf Andrew T.

July 27th Doublin, IRE Marlay Park Wow! What a gig, Picture House kicked ass to warm up the Irish crowd, then Kasim doing his solo stuff was just brilliant. Patty doing her stuff as always was cool. Meat was amazing coming on to the stage saying nothing for a few minutes getting the crowd going. What can I say, one of the best gigs he has put on in Ireland in years, and the Irish hat he had on him, really suited him!! Not too sure about Patty and Kasim with the Pokeman ties though, maybe there is something going on that we should know about!! The best bit was when Meat got off the stage to come down to the crowd to talk to a girl and asking her was she drunk cause she wanted him to sing 'Mony Mony' since he didn't write the song, brilliant!! Well done boys and girls! Chris

July 9th Council Bluffs, IA WestFair Amphitheatre The show was the bomb. I was like the youngest big fan there. I knew all the words and guitar parts. The show was very entertaining live. There was nothing wrong with that show. He inspired that night like no other. At the age of 16 it was the best. The best music. It was awesome when he came out in the crowd I got his picture right up close and I touched his shoulder. There was only song I wanted him to do and that was I'de lie for you. The show was a once and a life time experience. Thank you Meat. Brandon H.
