Barbara's Meet and Greet
Last night I was one of the lucky ones who got to go
to a concert, not only that but I had a meat & greet
pass, what a night.
I had to be at the venue for 6 pm so arrived at 5.30
to see people already queueing at every door, the
concert didn't start 'til 7.30.
After asking everyone I could find I was sent round
the back to security, this proved to be where the Meat
tour buses parked and whilst it was
tempting to stow away I had to rush round to the front
again in case I was
late.
Fortunately this time I found other people with Meat &
Greets and we were ushered into the building by Pablo the
assistant tour manager. We made our way ( there must have
been about 15 of us) around the back of the stage and up
what seemed like a dozen flights of stairs to wait for
Meat to join us. I can't decribe standing waiting, was
this real, would he come, could I be this lucky?
Then he was in the room he stopped and talked to
competition winners at the other side of the room
first so we had time just to watch and gather our thoughts,
we were in a
big room but the moment
he entered he filled it, not the snarling Meat of
Life's a Lemon, the Meat that makes you feel you are
important to him, that lifes great and to enjoy it with
him. Finally he came over to us, shook each of
our hands and asked us our names, we then posed for a
group photo with him, and yes I was one of the lucky ones
actually peeping over his shoulder!!
In
a few minutes it was over and we trouped down
those flights of stairs
clutching our autographs all with silly grins,
but it wasn't quite over.
An incredibly pretty girl was running up the stairs
cursing their steepness,
"Hi Patti", some one said and she flashed us all a
dazzling smile before disappearing.
I shall not give an in depth of the concert as much has
been written but I
will just say this, it was fabulous. This was my
third Meat concert, for
me this tour was better than the Neighbourhood tour,
about equal to the Bat 2 tour. Meat sang as much and
as well last night as he did at the other
tours. If people expect Meat to hit every note and sing
every line perfectly they should buy a CD, that isn't how a live
concert is, or should be. What
makes a Meat concert so unique is the magic he
creates on stage. Obvoiusly
his voice creates the magic but his actions and
the bands reactions are all part of it as is the superb
lighting and sets. After all,
we couldn't have a concert without Happy Bob the Bat!!
Well I've rambled enough so I'll close, just remember all
you US fans....your turn will come.
Barbara.

Barry's Meet and Greet
I was lucky enough to get a Meat and Greet pass for the 25th
March, and meeting Meat and the band really set the
tone for an AMAZING evening. Meat was on top form
right from the beginning, and this show ROCKED! The evening
was everything you expect from a Meat Loaf
concert – a raw fusion of light, music and energy.
He started slowly with Home By Now and No Matter What,
which led into a one hour non-stop session of some of his
classics – Life Is A Lemon, Dead Ringer, I’d Lie For You,
Anything For Love and Rock And Roll Dreams. Is Nothing
Sacred? was followed by a wonderful version of Paradise,
after which Meat and the band came front of stage for an
acoustic session that included "Two Out Of Three" and
"Took The Words". The highlight of this was when he sang
the last part of For Crying Out Loud, which was something
special, even if he did get half of the words wrong.
The finale was of course Bat Out Of Hell, which given
Meat’s top form was bound to be brilliant.
This was the fifth Meat Loaf concert I’d been to, and it
was easily one of the best. I just can’t wait to go and
see him again, and I envy anyone who’s got tickets to see
him in the next few weeks.
Keep rockin!
