TARA'S STORY

I will never forget when I heard Meat Loaf for the first time.

I was up late one night and had flipped in the TV to VH1 and there he was on Storytellers. I had never seen him, only vaguely heard of him, and the second he beganto sing my heart began to pound and my soul began to ache with the raw emotions he inspired. I had never had a musician affect me that way before. He was so incredibly passionate! Right after the concert, the Behind the Music program came on and I fell more deeply in love with him--not just as a musician, but a human as well! He is the most incredible artist I have ever seen. His intense humanity and love for his family is breathtaking. His ability to convey such powerful emotions through his songs has affected me greatly. I immediately bought his greatest hits CD and made a tape which I have not taken out of my car stereo since. No matter what I am feeling, his music knows just how to make me feel. If I'm depressed, he picks me up or makes me feel like he understands; if I'm happy, well, what needs to be said? I just roll down the windows, crank up the volume, and let 'im roar! I am only 18, and I find, unfortunately, that many people my age tend to view Meat Loaf as an 'old' artist or "Someone my parents used to listen to." If only they would take the time to listen to him. His music is as classical and enduring as anything else I've heard. In that split second when I first saw and heard him, Meat Loaf became my favorite artist--so he will always remain.
